Rehabilitation works in ZHUR water supply network

It is vital that we better manage our knowledge in order to make better use of it for delivering universal access to water and sanitation. Throughout decades, our company has been delivering projects in different regions with the main objective of providing access to safe water and creating lasting impact and providing sustainable models for operations, maintenance and usage of water systems.

There are many cases where existing water systems (especially for potable water) are not functionally and effective for all users simultaneously. In such cases, some users have the possibility to even misuse water consumption, while others have limited access to the same system. That being the case, together with public authorities (public utility authorities) we cooperate and manage to invest in projects with the main objective of improving existing systems and create consistent and stable access to safe water.

In Zhur project, it is foreseen to rehabilitate the existing water system network with a total length of around 40 kilometers of existing pipelines. Water pipes of different sizes (all of them having pressure of PN16) will be installed in the network providing access to all residents of that region. Considering the harsh terrain, all water pipes installed are of materials resistant to rocky and difficult terrains.

The main objective of the project is to mitigate the misuse of water consumption and prevent water loss so all residents have universal access to safe drinking water. Prior to project commencement, few residents have access 24h to the system, while other residents have limited access to existing water system. Hence, the project involves installation of residential water meters on the pedestrian (public) streets so the management and maintenance of the system is easier by the public authority. Also, installation of remote reading water meters is mandatory so in the future public authority can manage the entire system remotely and mitigate water loss. By creating a sustainable system, maintenance of the network system is much easier, prevention of water loss is achieved and distribution of universal access is obtained.
